Scarborough House is only a short distance from the heart of Ruidoso.  From the center of Ruidoso in the main shopping district on Sudderth Drive, proceed west on Sudderth, and turn right on Mechem Drive, the continuation of NM Highway 48.  Drive north on NM 48.  After you pass the Ski Apache turn-off on your left (NM 532,) continue about 1.5 miles and turn right on NM Highway 220: the Scenic Airport Road.  Great View Court is approximately 3.1 miles on the left, about 100 yards past the main entrance to the Ranches of Sonterra.  Turn left at the street sign and proceed on back to the house.  Scarborough House is two-story, with a grey metal roof and tan stucco walls.   We are about 10 miles from the center of Ruidoso, only 20 short minutes away.

Directions from El Paso:  Drive on US 54 to Alamogordo, merge onto US 54/70 and proceed to Tularosa.  Merge right to US 70 East.  Drive about 30 miles to Ruidoso and turn left on NM 48 (Sudderth Drive.)  Proceed west on Sudderth Drive and turn right on Mechem Drive, which is the continuation of NM 48.  Drive north on NM 48.  After you pass the Ski Apache turn-off on your left, continue about 1 mile and turn right on Highway 220: the Scenic Airport Road.  Great View Court is approximately 3.1 miles on the left, about 100 yards past the main entrance to the Ranches of Sonterra.  Turn left at the street sign and proceed on back to the house.  Total mileage from El Paso:  about 145 miles --- 2 1/2 hours of driving time.

Directions from Roswell:  Drive west on US 70 West for 46 miles to Hondo.  Turn right on US 380 West and drive through historic Lincoln, approximately 10 miles after the 380 turn.  After traveling about 8 miles past Lincoln, turn left on NM 220.  Drive 10 miles on this scenic road through Ft. Stanton, pass the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport, and the Spencer Theater.  Take your time and enjoy this scenic drive!  Our house is about 1.1 miles past the Spencer Theater.  Look for the Great View Court street sign on the right and come on back to our house!  Note that the Great View Court street sign is immediately after the Bonito Volunteer Fire Department, Sonterra Station on the right.  Total mileage from Roswell:  about 74 miles --- 1 1/2 hours of driving time.

Directions from Santa Fe:  Drive east on IH25 for about 8 miles and take exit 290 on the right near El Dorado to head south on US 285.  Drive 68 miles south on 285 (you will go through Clines Corners after 41 miles) and turn left on US 60 for about 0.3 mile and turn right on NM 3, just outside Encino.  Proceed 15 miles on NM 3 to Duran and turn right on US 54 and drive south for 64 miles to Carrizozo, the county seat of Lincoln County.  You will go through Corona, which is 45 miles from Carrizozo.  Turn left on US 380 when you get to Carrizozo and drive 8 miles to NM 37.  Turn right on NM 37 and travel about 14 miles to NM 48 and turn right.  Drive another 2 miles and turn left on NM 220, which we also call the Scenic Airport Road.  Great View Court is 3.1 miles on the left, right after the main entrance to the Ranches of Sonterra.  Turn left at the street sign and proceed to our house.  Total mileage from Santa Fe:  about 183 miles --- approximately 3 hours of driving time, give or take.  This is what we call the “back way” to and from Santa Fe.  We enjoy the scenery whenever we drive this route and hope you enjoy it too!  If you need to go to Albuquerque, just drive IH 25 south and follow the directions above from Albuquerque.  The Santa Fe-Albuquerque-Alto route is about 59 miles longer.
